When her bra is on the floor as well Blair pulls his lips away from Emily’s, leaving her feeling empty for a quick and terrible second. But then he drops down to her breasts and takes one of them into his mouth, and that emptiness is replaced with a surge of decadent passion as Emily gasps, grabbing onto the back of Blair’s head, feeling him suck her hard and sensitive nipple into his mouth.

He draws pleasure out of her like water out of a spring. She feels her head swim, and colours appear before her eyes as he swirls his tongue around her nipple, nibbling on it with his teeth, wrapping his lips widely around her entire breast and sucking the whole thing in.

Emily’s pleasures all siphon down to the place between her legs, where she can feel a strong heat and dampness forming. It’s all she can do not to moan, but when one of Blair’s hands moves down her body to that very spot, she finds her body taking over and she can’t help herself. A long, loud sound escapes from Emily’s throat and fills the kitchen, the house, the entire world.

Blair’s fingers rub briefly over Emily’s jeans, but then she feels him find the button and zipper, undoing them in a second. Into her clothing and inside of her panties he slides down, and Emily cries out as he runs past her clit, honing in on her wetness for a moment before bringing that natural lube of hers back up, rubbing it over her little hardness, making her knees weak with passion.

Emily can’t believe it. Not more than five minutes ago, she had thought that her and Blair’s relationship was going to be limited to friendship and unburdening themselves of their daily stresses. Now his fingers are rubbing against her pussy, drawing that exquisite pleasure up throughout her, and she’s not sure how long she’s going to be able to last.

“Oh God, Blair,” Emily moans, her arms wrapped around his firm body and holding on for dear life. He pulls his mouth from her breast and comes back up to kiss her, his experienced fingers still rubbing her, going down every now and again to slide just the tips inside of her, bringing her lube back up to her clit for another go.

Their tongues intertwine again as Emily’s body begins to shudder. She can feel him breathing heavily out through his nose. His body is strong and firm, and she can feel that bulge at the front of his pants — the bulge that he has for her. His fingers keep going and it all rises up so quickly. Emily’s head is flying and she hears herself moaning, gasping, feeling the insides of her threatening to explode out.

Finally, with a scream that could shatter glasses, Emily comes hard against her stepbrother’s hand. Their mouths have pulled away from one another and he’s down to the side of her neck, moving as quickly as a cobra. His fingers keep drawing her orgasm along, pulling it out of her in long, ribbon-like strands. Just when it seems like she’s going to finish he keeps her going, and it’s only when Emily’s knees feel like they’re going to give out does he finally stop, allowing her the reprieve of a moment’s rest before he’s back to kissing her again.

Emily is shaking, but she’s still holding onto Blair’s body. His kisses move down, around her neck, down to her shoulders and over them, along the front of her chest. Emily’s pussy is throbbing still, and she feels her hands take control, going down to the front of his pants. Pulling open his belt and undoing his jeans, Emily reaches into Blair’s boxers and feels his cock, long and thick and throbbing with a heavy pulse. As she wraps her fingers around its stiffness she hears him moan against her skin. It spurs her on and she starts to stroke him, feeling his silky skin move with her, his head with the heavy bead of precum being exposed as she does.

Blair takes his hands off of Emily as he reaches down, shuffling his pants down to his thighs. His cock and balls are released from their confines, and as Emily continues to stroke him she feels him reach forward, giving her own pants the same treatment. When her lower half is exposed, she rubs the head of her stepbrother’s prick against her belly, down to the front of her pussy. His large, round head moves against her still-sensitive clit and she gasps, feeling herself getting wetter at the sensation.

Blair grabs onto Emily’s sides and spins her around, his strong arms able to move her with ease. She allows herself to be pushed up towards the wall, at the edge of the doorframe where the kitchen meets the hallway. Grabbing onto it, Emily pushes her ass out towards Blair and she feels him grab onto her, massaging her cheeks and sending heavier, thicker waves of pleasure down into her body.

The head of his cock finds its way to Emily’s wet opening and she moans, pushing herself back. Blair grabs onto her with both hands, and without wasting a second he slides himself all the way inside of her. Emily cries out, her face becoming flushed as her stepbrother starts to pound into her. She tightens her grip on the wall as her ass cheeks radiate with pleasure, Blair’s thick cock slamming its way into her pussy over and over again.

Blair is moaning deeply, and Emily can hear the intensity in his voice. He holds onto her strongly as a second orgasm is welling up inside of her. Her pussy feels like it’s on fire as she clenches over him, making him moan again and increasing the deep pleasure within her as well.

Emily is crying out, her moans coming in between gasps for air, and their sounds mingle together to fill the kitchen. Blair reaches forward and grabs onto both of Emily’s breasts with one hand, pulling them into her, squeezing them and pinching one of her nipples in the process.

This pushes Emily over the edge. The rising in her body takes over, and she can’t stop herself from coming. She cries, her voice rising in volume, as her pussy clamps down and squeezes hard over Blair’s never-ending cock.

He lets out a monstrous roar and Emily feels him release himself inside of her, his cock throbbing with a ferocious intensity as he pumps load after load of hot, thick cum deep within her body. They pound together, their bodies moving as one in this fierce, passionate display of erotic intensity.

When it’s finally over Emily slows down, and so does Blair. She’s shaking; if she wasn’t paying attention, she could almost certainly collapse onto the floor below. Blair pulls himself out of her and Emily feels some of his seed leak out as well, the rest staying buried deeply inside of her, keeping her warm. She hears the rustle of clothing and the clink of metal as he does up his pants. She turns around and finds his gaze down, not looking at her. Again.

“Blair?” she asks, but he’s already on his way out of the kitchen. Emily feels her inborn stubbornness flair up inside of her. “BLAIR!” she yells, and Blair, to her amazement, stops. But he doesn’t look at her. She takes the moment to pull up her own pants.

  “What?” he asks.

  “Where are you going?”

“I have to leave,” he says. “I can’t be here, I can’t do this, Victoria. I told you before, you don’t want to be with a guy like me.”

He starts to move but Emily yells his name again. This time Blair wheels around, a frightening, angry look on his face.

“What?!” he yells, and Emily gasps at her stepbrother’s sudden rage. “What do you want from me? I can’t do this, okay? I can’t be with you! It’s too much to take, and I can’t do it!”

Emily can see tears now forming in his eyes; running down his cheeks.

“Blair, wait,” she says, but her voice sounds weak.

“No,” he says. “I’ve waited for too long for you to come back. Too long! You had your chance, Victoria, but now I’m leaving.”

He heads for the garage, and even though Emily calls his name again he doesn’t turn around this time. The sound of the door to the garage opening and slamming shut is loud. As Emily tries to fight back the tears that are flowing down her cheeks, she hears a beeping and feels a vibration against her skin. She looks down and sees her pager going off.

  Fuck. Perfect timing.

Emily turns the thing off before picking up her shirt and bra, putting them back on. She hears the muffled sound of the automatic garage door opening, followed by the roar of the Harley Davidson’s engine. A high-pitched peeling of rubber follows, and then the sound is gone, Blair along with it.
/>   Wiping her eyes with the heel of her hand, Emily goes to get ready for work.

  Chapter 11

The night is busy at the hospital, and when Emily arrives just after nine she’s immediately swamped with work. Doctors and paramedics are yelling out orders, Emily moving people out of the way of stretchers, setting up instruments for procedures. All around her is confusion, short fuses, people yelling or else crying in the waiting rooms.

“Busy night, huh?” Amanda says to Emily as she passes by her.

Emily doesn’t even have time to respond as Amanda is already down the hall, on her way to her next patient. Emily continues setting up for a boy to get six stitches in his leg, an accident from falling off of his skateboard.

Not far below the surface of Emily’s mind are thoughts of Blair, of wondering what in the hell they’re doing and whether or not this is going to work. Emily knows that her feelings for him are stronger than just a passing crush, but a future with him is practically off the table: his reactions to their being together and the fact that they’re part of the same family are both working against her.

A sharp call comes for several interns to the Emergency Room and Emily is on her way. As she makes her way there, she hears snippets of what’s happened, and who’s being transported in an ambulance:

“… white male, approximately 25 years old …”

“… sustained multiple surface wounds, need to check for any broken limbs …”

“… Harley Davidson motorcycle was destroyed. Driving too fast, without any helmet …”

Emily almost stops in her tracks. Her insides have turned to ice as she registers what the doctors are saying. Rushing ahead, past everyone else, she gets to the ER just in time for the paramedics to rush in, pushing a stretcher with them. Gasps and murmurs are heard as they make their way through the crowd, on their way through the inner double doors.

Emily has stopped fully now, and she finds that she can’t move. The image of what’s just passed in front of her plays in her mind over and over. The image of blood, and a torn white t-shirt and jeans. The image of her stepbrother, his face almost unrecognizable as he was pushed, strapped down tightly in the hospital stretcher.

  Part 3

  Chapter 12

  Beep … beep … beep …

Blair moans, stirring on the white hospital bed. His head is wrapped with gauze, and a spot above his left eye is covered with bandages. The machines attached to him monitor his heart rate, his pulse. They make sure that he’s alive; that he’s not going to slip into the coma that everybody is expecting him to. Outside, the sky is dark.

Emily sits in the chair next to the bed, staring at her stepbrother, her jaw set, no smile on her face. He moans again and his eyes flutter, but no emotion crosses Emily’s face. He settles back down again but she keeps staring, her eyes hardly blinking at all.

Amanda, Emily’s co-worker and the intern on duty, comes into the room, a sympathetic look on her face.

“Hey, Emily?” she says in a soft voice. “How’re you doing, hon?”

“Fine,” Emily says curtly, though her body feels far from it. She’s sore from sitting for so long, and though she’s caught fitful bouts of sleep here and there over the past three days, she’s mostly stayed up, waiting for Blair to awake.

“Hon, you should probably try to go home,” Amanda says as she squats down on her haunches beside her friend. “Your parents went home hours ago … don’t you want to join them?”

“No,” Emily says, the same response she’s been giving since she found out he’s going to survive.

“Okay … well, if you want somebody to talk to, or just some company, just buzz me, okay?” Amanda gets up to leave, but as she reaches the door she turns and looks back. “Blair’s a really lucky guy, to have a sister who cares for him so much.”

Emily doesn’t respond, not outwardly, and Amanda departs, leaving the two alone again in the room. The machine continues its noise: beep … beep … beep …

  Chapter 13

Just as the early morning sun starts to stream in through the hospital room windows, Blair moans again, turning his head to the side, away from her. Emily, who was just starting to nod off, awakens with a start and stares at him, her eyes red, her mind addled with lack of sleep.

Blair moans again, turns his head to the other side, and opens his eyes. His pupils are dilated, but he blinks several times and they come back down to a normal size. Emily watches his confused expression, his furrowing brow, but then he lands his eyes on Emily and seems to stop, freezing in place.

“Emily,” Blair says, wincing as his voice coming out in a croak. Emily isn’t smiling still; in fact, she hasn’t moved from her position on the chair. She’s staring at him, a stern look on her face.

“Why did you do it, Blair?” she asks, and the tone of her voice reminds her of her mother, but she pushes that thought aside.

Blair starts to speak, but he coughs instead, a hacking noise. Emily makes no move to comfort him, even though a part of her wants to. He finishes and takes in a rattling breath, able to speak:

  “What happened?” he asks.

“What happened?” Emily repeats. “I’ll tell you what happened: you crashed that motorcycle you were driving, without a helmet I might add! What the hell, Blair? Why in the … what were you trying to do, huh? You almost died! You lost four pints of blood; you’ve been asleep for four days, and they’ve been monitoring you to make sure you didn’t slip into a coma! What the fuck, Blair? What the fuck?”

Emily is panting now, struggling to keep the last half-week’s worth of pent-up frustration from coming out of her in a fiery explosion. Blair is looking at her, his glowing blue eyes fixated on hers.

“Emily-” he begins, but Emily can’t stop herself.

“Why do you hate me so much, Blair, that you’d rather die in a motorcycle accident than be with me? Do I disgust you, is that it? Why do you keep comparing me to this Victoria girl, huh? Did you hate her too? And why …” and here she drops her voice, “why is it that on your medical chart you have it down not to give you any Morphine, huh? What the fuck’s that all about?”

  “Emily, let me explain-”

But now that Emily’s started, she can’t stop. She gets up from her chair, and Blair’s infuriatingly calm expression follows her.

“No! Nothing you say is going to be good enough! Not for this. Blair, we-” she takes a glance at the open door and, seeing it empty, lowers her voice again. “We make love in the garage, and you run away without a word. You treat me like shit, then we make love again, and you crash on a motorcycle right after! Blair … I don’t know what’s wrong with you, but I don’t think I want to be a part of it.”

A strange thing is happening to Blair as Emily talks, and she is only just able to notice it in her tirade. His expression, which just a moment ago was something almost akin to stone, is changing into something … something else. Something that would look familiar on anybody else, but on Blair’s face it looks altogether foreign. Only in the back of Emily’s mind is she able to point it out, and it comes to her like a whisper, spoken behind a cupped hand:

  He’s sad.

But Emily’s too far gone in her anger, despite the tearing of her heart in two when she realizes this.

“I can’t do this, Blair,” she says, backing away from his bed and towards the open door. “I thought I could, I really thought that it could work, but I can’t. I … I’m sorry.”

And with that, Emily turns and leaves the hospital room, hoping that she can get out before Blair sees her start to cry. She can swear she hears him calling her name in his gravelly voice, but she doesn’t turn back. The hospital corridors go past her in a blur, and her muscle memory leads her out the front door. Blinking in the early morning sunlight, she marches towards the bus stop, wiping her eyes with her hands and finally ready to go back home.

  Chapter 14

When Emily gets up to her bedroom she immediately collapses on the bed, her tired and
aching body unable to keep going one minute longer. But it’s a fitful sleep that she has, one full of terrible dreams of twisted metal, and Blair lying dead on his hospital bed, covered in gauze but with oil and car paint streaked on his skin. She tries waking him, knowing that it’s no use as she vigorously shakes his lifeless corpse. Her tears fall onto him, staining his pale white skin and mingling in with his own …

Emily wakes up with a start and looks out the window to find the light dimming in the sky. She’d slept the entire day. She collapses back down onto the bed, no longer tired but not wanting to get up. The house sounds quiet. Finally she lifts herself up, her body protesting with creaking joints and sore muscles. Opening the bedroom door, she leaves her room.

The house is dark, save for a soft light floating in from downstairs. Emily swallows, saliva scraping against her dry throat, and she descends the stairs. As she reaches the bottom she sees that the light is coming in from the dining room, so she walks down the hall, approaching it.

When Emily turns the corner she sees Blair sitting at the table, alone, a glass of water in his hand. He’s facing away from her, and he doesn’t respond to her being there. Emily isn’t sure if he knows that she’s standing behind him, but a second later he speaks up:

“Emily,” he says, not turning to look at her. “Please, sit down.”

Emily stares at the back of her stepbrother’s head for a moment before entering the room, taking the chair at the table farthest from Blair. He’s still got the gauze and bandages on him, and one of his hands is wrapped up with similar material. But he seems like he’ll be all right. He doesn’t bring his gaze up to meet hers, instead focusing on the table. Emily waits for him to start.

“I want to apologize,” Blair says, and Emily feels hot anger flare up inside of her. She keeps it down, though, waiting to hear what he has to say. “I shouldn’t have done what I did. I shouldn’t have left. I shouldn’t have left you that first night, either. But I couldn’t … I couldn’t deal with it. I thought I could but I couldn’t. And I want to say that I’m sorry.”
